About Us

The Perfect Dozen Cupcakery began in March 2007, and as of the 10th November 2012, we have closed the Cupcakery's doors, hung up our spatulas and aprons, and headed off on a new journey. We are no longer running a cupcake business or taking orders.

The Perfect Dozen Cupcakery is a boutique bakery specialising in gourmet cupcakes and french macarons, available for purchase both in store over-the-counter, and also for custom party orders.

Everything is baked from scratch using real butter, sugar, eggs, flour and chocolate (no commercial mixes here!), with no added preservatives, and is all made in-store in our small kitchen.  We make all our decorations by hand in-store as well, so the look of our cupcakes is completely customisable.  Why not consider a cupcake tower by The Perfect Dozen for your next celebration?  Or to satisfy your sugar craving, simply drop into the store to buy one, two, a dozen or however many cupcakes you need from the flavours in stock that day.

The Perfect Dozen Cupcakery began in 2007 (known as The Cupcake Girl!) when I first sold my cupcakes at the Cabarlah Markets in March of that year.  What started out as a small side-project while I completed my uni degree, soon grew as Toowoomba started to catch on to the 'cupcake trend' and demand for my cupcakes increased more and more.

Once I finished university, I made the decision to pursue my new passion as a career, and in order to keep up with growing demand, a shop-front premises was sought.  In May 2010, The Perfect Dozen Cupcakery finally opened its doors to the boutique bakery it is today.

My love for cupcakes is thanks to a trip to Melbourne in early 2006, where I first discovered the wonderful world of the modern cupcake when I sampled one of the gorgeous Life's Sweet cupcakes.

Having been a keen baker since I was a child (helping Mum in the kitchen!), learning basic technique in high school, and being extremely fascinated by the delicate buttercream roses that topped the Life's Sweet cakes, I began baking cupcakes and experimenting with different decoration techniques.

After nearly a year-long quest to create my own perfect vanilla cupcake recipe, finding some new favourites, as well as converting some old faithful cake recipes to cupcake form, I sold my first gourmet cupcakes at the Cabarlah Markets at the start of 2007, with my 'hobby' eventually growing to what the Cupcakery is today.
